The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that information being circulated online about fresh registration days for 2019 general elections as false. The false information had claimed that INEC has given another opportunity to eligible voters who missed the last registration exercise. The false information had further stated that the new registration for PVC will start on 2nd December and end on 10th December 2018. The false online message asked people to endeavor to inform others.

In a tweet @inecnigeria INEC stated that information reaching the commission was that some persons have been circulating messages on line that “INEC has given another opportunity to register for your PVC starting on the 2nd to 10th December 2018.”

INEC stated that the report is untrue and advised the public to ignore it.

Meanwhile, Zamfara APC has dragged INEC to court and insists on participating in the forthcoming general elections. It is seeking the court’s order to compel INEC to permit APC Zamfara to participate in the forthcoming national elections.

Earlier, INEC has intimated Zamfara APC a letter ref no. INEC/SEC/654/1/330 to bar APC Zamfara from presenting cadidates for the forthcoming elections due to the party’s failure to conduct its primaries within stipulated time.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) is thus seeking the injunction that would perpetually restrain INEC from excluding APC from presenting and submitting list of its candidates for the coming elections. The suit filed at Federal High Court Abuja is with reference number; FHC/ABJ/CS/1279/2018. The court has fixed 11th December 2018 for hearing on the case.
